regarding the healthy functioning of your musculoskeletal system as a whole | (which takes care of issues in different body parts like jaw, neck, spine, back, hips, legs, knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, or hands, associated with: pain or tension in muscles; lack of or hyper flexibility; recurring injuries; pinched nerves; discomfort in postures; concerns for mobility and range of motions especially in aging or recovery from injuries or surgeries; challenges with breathing, sitting, walking etc) |
by bringing your attention to this system of your body and guiding you to connect with it in particular ways | (related to but beyond mindfulness or meditation practices: we aim to train certain attention-dependent bodily skills that lead to tangible physical changes. |
while in positions and movements that skillfully utilize gravity and support of surfaces | (leveraging mechanical advantages; from experiential knowledge of Alexander Technique and Dart Procedures) |
to restore healthy states of muscles, alignment of bones, flexibility and stability in joints, according to our body’s natural design | (based on understanding of biological science and anatomy of human body) |
Then I guide you to mindfully engage in activities without losing what we have restored! | (related to advanced mindfulness practices: to bring significant states from the cushion to activities in daily life) |
The moment we start moving, old unseen habits kick in right away that cause us to lose what we have just restored and are the root causes of common issues in the musculoskeletal system. | (It takes and trains high sensory clarity to track your musculoskeletal system when in motion, from moment to moment, and at increasingly subtler levels.) |
We learn to address the root causes at the most fundamental level, by observing what happens in each moment, especially to detect the tendency to go along with old habits even before we start moving - at moment when the intention to act arises. Instead, we learn to act consciously from a different place - not knowing and freedom, which is effortless, spontaneous, and unbelievably satisfying! | (This is where we move from science to art, and meet the fun and significant theme of Zen/ Chan: expressing from not knowing and riding on spontaneity! It’s also where artistic or performance skills related to the use of the body - voice, playing instruments, sports, or martial arts, get the opportunities to be brought to the next level of mastery!) |
