Degrees and Credentials

I received two Master's degrees in Biostatistics from Columbia University. My bachelor's was in Biological Science from Fudan University in Shanghai.

I am certified in Alexander Technique after completing 1,600 hour teacher’s training in 2018 with Dr. Theodore Dimon, the co-founder of the American Society of Alexander Technique and a Professor of Clinical Psychology and Education at Columbia University Teachers College.

Physical pain relief or reduction

Olivia is a gifted teacher and healer. In two on-line sessions, she totally shifted my experience of my body and pain. It has been similar to when in meditation I realized there was a difference between mind and thoughts, and now I realize the difference between my physical body and pain. I came to her with severe pain in my right leg, from what an MRI revealed to be pinched nerves in my L3 and L5 vertebra, where I couldn't stand for long or walk for more than 100 feet without having to rest from the throbbing pain. I had gone to a chiropractor for about a month without any significant change in my condition. Through Olivia's aware, loving presence and knowledge, she observed me, explaining what was happening through words, movements and on a model of the body. This led me to understand, visualize and sense what was happening in my muscles and body. By her gentle instruction, and practicing altering my focus and movements I was miraculously able to walk without any pain or discomfort, even taking a walk for about a mile. It is beyond words to describe how grateful I am to Olivia's healing presence and expertise.

I never heard about the Alexander Technique before Olivia introduced me to it. I had a work related accident 2 years ago and still had pain from damaged ligaments related to my right arm, shoulder, scapula and neck. I had previously went to massage therapist and chiropractor, they helped but I still had 40% that wasn’t healing when I used my right arm. I had a one-on-one session with Olivia and she showed me 2 simple exercises and I did them for weeks. I would say I have 5 to 10% of the original pain left. In a short period of time the exercises Olivia introduced me to helped me heal something that I thought was never going to heal. For that I am very grateful to Olivia and I wish her success in helping others like me in the future.

When I started this—which is two sessions ago—I had problems with my voice, problems with my breathing, problems with my upper back, problems with my neck, and shoulder. I had lower back pain. I had problems with tensing in my glutes, and problems with tensing in my thighs, and my ankles were super stiff—and everything was just horrible. And even my shins were tight sometimes! And somehow after two sessions, which were, like, not even an hour each, everything's gone. Injury prevention and empowerment

In engaging activities that are desirable but challenging:

Olivia has been coaching me in Alexander Technique for about a year and I am very pleased. She is an excellent teacher, combining deep knowledge and clear communication. She has been flexible and creative in adapting the subject to my needs, with great results. She started with the basics of posture, sitting, standing, laying down, and transitions. And that alone made a big difference for me. My lower back has often been a source of recurring discomfort. That has improved remarkable under Olivia's guidance. Moving beyond the basics, Olivia helped me prepare for a recent 6-week trip to Japan. First, she gave me very helpful suggestions for the long airplane ride. But most importantly, in anticipation of doing a great deal of walking in Japan, she coached me extensively on my walking movements. This was very helpful to me. I was walking between five and ten miles each day for six weeks in Japan. I used Olivia's "improvements" the entire time and had no problems at all. By the end of the trip I felt that my walking ability was almost limitless. Back in America, I walk about 3 miles every day and it has become a complete daily practice session. The fact that all of our sessions have been remote has not hindered the training. I highly recommend Olivia as an Alexander teacher and a teacher of mindfulness.
